Whew! The ending of this novel was so exciting and really captivating! Throughout the whole Texas K-9 series the authors begin to slowly reveal and then unveil the mystery surrounding the activity that continues to lead to The Lost Woods. Tracking Justice, Detection Mission, Guard Duty, Explosive Secrets and now Scent of Danger introduce a unit of officers and their specially trained dogs. Each novel highlights a particular member of that unit and their personal thoughts, battles and emotions with the overall attempt to locate a crime syndicate recently brought to light in the small town of Sagebrush.
In this installment, we learn about a 2-year-old beagle that is trained to uncover narcotics, and his handler, Officer Parker Adams. Throughout the adventure a romance is beginning to develop between Parker and detective Melody Zachary who runs a youth center. When it is evident that some nemesis will go to great lengths to try and take out Melody, Parker is assigned to protect her.
Both Parker and Melody have hearts that are scarred from their past experiences, which seem to be hard to move past in order to trust each other. The faith these two show in God as well as other K-9 handlers in the unit is a real encouragement when they face danger. I enjoyed each book I have read thus far in the series as the suspense and thrill never seemed to let my attention waver.
One more installment titled, Lone Star Protector, promises to unveil the main adversary known only as The Boss. Sometimes I have thought of various other characters as being the man calling the shots or putting fear in the snitches that live on the streets. The other aspect of the series I have enjoyed is the vast variety and training of the dogs. The stories are filled with faith, romance, danger, adventure and more which I hope will cause you to sit down and enjoy each carefully crafted tale! Don’t miss the Texas K-9 series! This is the fifth of six books, all of which are like long chapters of a really long book..or like a mini-series on TV. I saw a few editorial mistakes, but other than that, I found these books to be very enjoyable even though you could sense some of what was going to happen. Give this book a try. While the big issue isn't solved until book 6, something is solved in each book, so there is a sense of closure for the theme of each one.
Good action, just felt disappointed in the police work that is so central to the story. They weren't that impressive as police detectives, but I guess that means the story would be much shorter. The main characters were okay, but somehow I just didn't connect. Guess I get tired of people wallowing in misplaced guilt, it's used in too many plots. Melody didn't act like a very experienced detective and was almost passive at times as a cop.

Overall it wasn't great, but was okay for a light read.
Anyone who reads this series would have to give each story a five star review---these are clean exciting intriguing romance stories!!! I have thoroughly enjoyed every book so far!! Highly recommended to everyone!!!
I can't imagine having a family member murdered and then another commit suicide. Such tragedies could certainly either turn you to or from God. This series is fantastic.

Will circumstances allow them to take the biggest risk yet on love?
Melody and Parker share a common issue, having lost a loved one to drugs. She has a center for youth, in which drugs were found, and Center closed. Will they find who is guilty or planted the drugs, even to office being ramshackle. She is a cat person can she love a dog and the master. Enjoyable reading.
Love! I have adored every book in this series, and this one is no exception! Here is the story of Melody, who runs the youth center in Sagebrush. If you look back at all of the books in this series, she is the aunt of Daniel, who was a young man killed in the Lost Woods and is another part of the huge mystery behind this whole series. We also get to meet Parker Adams and his K9 dog Sherlock, who is a trained drug sniffing dog. I dare you not to fall in love! This was another amazing story and I can't wait to see how this fantastic series ends!!!
