The Year Best Military SF and Space Opera BAEN David Afsharirad Books
This is a superb anthology. The stories range from very hard, technological military sci-fi (the opening Codename: Delphi by Linda Nagata, to the classic space operas Persephone Descending by Derek Künsken and my favorite in the collection, The Rules for Being an Intergalactic Smuggler (the Successful Kind by Holly Black--which I want much more of, by the way. There's even a wonderfully crafted noir detective thriller set in the mid-1930s...albeit a 1930s wherein Earth already has colonies on Mars and Venus. The stories are each very individual and beautifully written, and I had a hard time not starting a new one each time I finished a previous one. I highly recommend this volume.

The Year Best Military SF and Space Opera BAEN David Afsharirad Books Reviews
Brought back a lot of memories of older SCI=FY stories. I enjoyed the stories.
Great book
Some of the authors' writing was uneven with grammatical errors, but overall it was an enjoyable anthology.
A genre anthology which delivered what I was anticipating.. a good read which is what I was trying to buy.
Some stories better than others, as is always the case with such a grouping. Overall, it was worth the time spent, based on two really good stories.
I like Science Fiction and I like a good military story - I found both here. It is a fun and easy read. Two of the stories had a twist that I did not see coming.
Nothing amazing or groundbreaking here... but some good solid stories and nothing too objectionable... You can find MUCH better military SF out there, but if you are like me, and you've already read most of the good stuff... this has some good "filler" that will keep you interested (if not actually thrilled and inspired).
