The Devil Crescent Ann B Keller 9780557001521 Books Reviews

I don't read historicals much as a rule but the very cover first drew me in. This is a terrific tale that is well written, very accurate in the descriptions used of the era and the tale certainly appeals to people who don't read this genre much. They should read this title!

Ann B. Keller will go on my to watch author list as I was bound very quickly her characters and was sorry to have the tale end. She's an excellent writer who gives 110% to her story, her locale and certainly her characters.
I just finished Ann B Keller's Book "The Devil's Crescent" and I must say it was quite a ride. As a general rule, I don't usually ready western or romance. However, I must tell you "The Devil's Crescent" grabbed me from the first sentence and couldn't put it down.
I absolutly adored Maggie MacNaughton. Her firey spirit and her determination to hold on to her life and her love of Bounty Hunter Diego kept me laughing and wanting more. The grit and determination of Maggie as she struggles to hold on to her land shows the inner strengh of the women of the west.
The page turning action continued non stop as Maggie not only spured the advances of her enemy, but the love and determination of making sure Diego was never far from her sight.
Not the typical woman of the early west, Maggie, shows what women could do even alone.
Ann. B Keller has once again penned a story that will transport the reader to another place and another time. The reader will long to stay to see what adventures Maggie and Diego have long after the last page is turned. Louis La'more, watch out, there is a new sheriff in town and her name is Ann B Keller and Texas will never be the same.
This book rates more than five stars.
I've decided one disadvantage of reading on a computer is that I read too fast. And because I'm lazy, I don't bother going back to check when I'm not sure what's just happened. But "The Devil's Crescent" was an enjoyable quick read. The small Texas town of Hollow Gap was peopled with interesting characters, and I felt like I'd come to know them by the end of the book. From headstrong Maggie, boldly going where she ought to know better, to schoolteacher Cora, safe and sensible and deeply in love; from strange Will to the Winslow boy; from sheriff to Mexican bounty-hunter; they all come together in a well-realized and well-described small town, on the edge of disaster.

The occasional unsettled feeling of having just heard something before, or having missed something important, didn't detract from the read. After all; life's like that. And Maggie's good fortune was easily explained by Diego's good wit. I loved the conversations and the characterizations in the novel, and my only complaint would be that I'd like to meet the characters again and learn more of their stories. Will the Winslow boy marry the girl who's sweet on him? Will the Indians live in peace? Will Diego's father ever come to visit?

"The Devil's Crescent" is a fine romantic story, with well-drawn characters, interesting location, and authentic historical setting. It reminded me of the Westerns I used to enjoy on TV as a kid, and it left me contented and ready to face the problems of my own day.

Award winning author Ann B. Keller takes us on a new wild west adventure with The Devil's Crescent.
Maggie MacNaughton is a single woman trying to survive the hard Texas life in a time when no woman would dare try and take on a ranch. A new stranger appears in town. Diego is dark, handsome and mysterious. He turns everyone's head in one way or another. Morgan Lansing is a land baron who will do anything to own all the property surrounding his ranch. Only one person stands in his way and that is Maggie. The woman he wants as his wife.
Ann B. Keller will take you on an adventure through the Texas outback to the Mexican border. You will keep you turning the pages as this tale unwinds.

I found that Ann B. Keller did her research about Texas and her historical accuracy. Every characters come alive as you turn the pages. I enjoyed this book very much. In fact I am patiently waiting for the next one to out. I give this book 10 stars and many kudo's. It is not easy to write a historical romance and make it real. Ann B. Keller did it. She kept me turning the pages night after night. I finished The Devils Crescent in three days. Not wanting to put it down. A fantastic read. Well worth your money.

The Devils Crescent is adventurous, mysterious, and romantic with a western back drop.
