A “Wild resolution that one was,” a line in the novel sums it up for me.

This book was a refreshing change from the norm, although, I’m not sure what genre it fits into. I’m calling it the great story genre. I bet you can tell a lot about an author by the books they write. I loved hearing about the life of a burgeoning private investigator and although I have no real-life experiences to base this belief on, Ravenna Young’s Third Eye P.I. seems very real and authentic. I have the utmost respect for authors who write from experience and/or do their homework in the way of research. I’m guessing there’s both going on here. This realism also happens at the ranch and with the horses, which brings the reader on board in a big way.

The main character is about as plain and flawed a character as you’ll ever read, and that’s what makes Cassie Woods lovable, sexy and the perfect protagonist, the kind readers root for, women want to be like, and men just want. Young describes her mission best: “She needed to prove her value as an investigator, and save the world from one more cheater.” I love it.

Young puts you in dynamic settings, doesn’t linger or bog you down with heavy description. Plain and simple, she gets to the point. The writing is good with lines like, “The chills that travelled, with sadistic speed, up her spine to the base of her neck became impossible to ignore as they morphed into a full-body, traitorous burn.” The story is solid, the sex sexual, and the characters well developed, so much so, from the mysterious Daniel to the loyal Eryn, you know who’s talking just by the words they say and their actions. Young also does a good job of showing over telling, and the subtle supernatural elements she sprinkles in completes the package making Third Eye P.I. highly recommended.

Third Eye PI A Third Eye PI Mystery Book 1 edition by Ravenna Young Romance eBooks Reviews

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I love getting to experience cassie learning about her abilities and finding herself while getting to watch love triangles play out. I found the story engaging and was eager to read the second one.
The writer did a good job with this. Well written & lots of fun!
Abysmal grammar. The characters aren’t real. The plot isn’t sophisticated. Sorry, but...
Wth did I just read?! It wasn't the same thing the other reviewers read. Humor? Sure, if you're 13. Erotica? Maybe if you get turned on reading about the "dirty wh*re" every other sentence. Literally, the chick couldn't call her vajay anything other than that! One time, sure, maybe entertainment. Every. Single. Time is way too over done. There was zip romance between the main character and ANY of the 3 men she's lusting after, she runs around wanting unavailable men and hating her sister for doing the same. The "mystery" was too slow paced (and honestly unintriguing) for me to care about a resolution. The supernatural element thrown in at the end (surprise, she's a fairy!) was like a hail mary pass to try to give the story more substance. I could care less if she tries to start a relationship with the guy who knocked up his ex, the boss that talks to her for 10 minutes and is suddenly all she ever wanted or the "unattractive but sexy because of his accent and motorcycle" fellow fairy she knew all of an hour before deciding they have connection in spite of him showing her zero interest. At least it was free.
What could have been something special was torn to shreads with the author's lack of direction and the one tracked, horny mind of the main character. Couldn't finish it.
The juicy bits happen right away. You read a third of the book before receiving any clarity about the storyline. At eighty seven percent of the book, it finally mentions the whole third eye thing. A bunch of fluff and filler, not enough to make me want to buy the next book. (Is it eryn or erin?!) Editing was a disappointment at best.
I downloaded Third Eye PI as a free book from . This book read like a compilation of three unrelated plots, two different genres (detective, and paranormal), and a magic eight ball to determine chapter sequence.

*** SPOILERS ***

Segues from one thought to the next often made no sense, and the main character, Cassie was not one I could identify with in any of her actions, especially the indiscriminate sexual thoughts so soon after catching her husband in bed with her sister, and her vindictive actions toward her soon-to-be-ex as she moves out of the house.. I especially hated her referring to her vagina as the "wh*** between my legs" (or variations of the same). Third Eye PI has an interesting premise behind the overall story outline, but the mystery behind the cheating spouse she was following (not her own) was too obvious, and some of the subplots were too outrageous and/or coincidental (the reason behind the sudden appearance of the father, the secret behind the new coworker, and the stalker who suddenly pops into the story to add some faux-suspense, or not) to be believed. By the end of the book, Cassie still hasn't filed for divorce-- come on, after her over the top reaction to him cheating, that should have been the first thing she did.

I didn't like the story at all, but there were only a couple obvious edit errors, so I'm going to assume my reaction is more subjective and the author may have people who enjoy the hot mess story line, therefore, my 2.5 was rounded up to a three.
